I have a Leadtek TV2000XP Deluxe and I'm trying to get the highest quality captures to convert to mpeg2 dvd @ 3500 kbps.
I've found that using compression codec's while I capture doesn't really give me very good results, and the presets in the WinFast PVR program don't encode very well.
Basically my question is:
Is it better to capture in raw avi, then convert with tmpgenc? The only issue I have with initially capturing with raw avi is that the filesize swallows hd space quickly. I believe the best alternative to this is using the HuffyYUV v2.1.1 codec. I've heard this codec is lossless so I don't actually loose any raw quality but it saves hd space. Is this true? Is there a better format to capture in so that I can encode later to get the highest quality?
ATM, I'm capturing with HuffyYUV @ 640x480, raw audio, then encoding with tmpgenc to:
640x480
29.97 fps
3500 CBR
NTSC Interlaced
DC @ 10bits
Motion Search: High
Anybody know of a way I could get better quality that I'm getting now based on this info? BTW, I'd like the quality to be optimized for a standalone dvd player.
thx,
